What is youtiao
You may have heard about this snack before, but what exactly is it? Youtiao is a type of Chinese deep-fried dough stick that has been around for centuries and is commonly eaten as an appetizer or snack in China. Youtiao are often sold by street vendors who use them as a way to make money during festivals and holidays. You can eat them plain, dipped in soy sauce, or even fried again after they cool down.
Youtiao Recipe
Ingredients:
Plain flour | 450 grams |
Egg | 1 |
Salt | 4 grams |
White sugar | 15 grams |
Edible oil | 20 grams |
Water | 250 grams |
How to make youtiao
1. Pour flour, salt, sugar, eggs, corn fritters, leavening agent, water into the dough mixer, and knead into a slightly softer dough.
2. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
3. Take out the dough from the refrigerator, let it sit for ten minutes, knead and flatten it, and roll it into a long strip like this.
4. Cut about the width of two fingers, and while finishing the surface, you can heat the oil in the pot.
5. One dough, use chopsticks to smear a watermark in the middle (the two doughs are well glued), and then put another.
6. Press the middle of the chopsticks.
7. Pinch the two ends with both hands and gently stretch.
8. Heat the oil, add the fritters, use chopsticks to help, flip both sides and fry until golden brown.
9. You can easily fry fritters at home, and pair it with a bowl of seaweed egg soup for breakfast.
10. If the pot is small, you can also cut it from the middle and fry it into small fritters like this.
