Steamed Tilapia is one of the most popular foods in China. The popularity of tilapia came about due to its low price, easy cooking and a mild taste. And it is very suitable for people who will not pick the thorns and the elderly and children.
What is Tilapia?
Tilapia is a kind of freshwater fish without small thorns. Their mouths are protractible, typically flanked with wide and frequently swollen lips. The jaws have cone-shaped teeth. Normally, tilapia has a long dorsal blade and a sidelong line which frequently breaks towards the finish of the dorsal balance and starts again a few lines of scales underneath.
It is very adaptable to the environment and usually lives in shallow waters of lakes, rivers and ponds. And it can also live in saltwater with different salt content.
Benefits and Dangers of Tilapia
The meat of tilapia is delicious, whether it is braised or steamed, it tastes good. And it is a freshwater aquaculture fish cultured in the world and is now regarded as one of the main sources of animal protein in the future.
Tilapia is low in saturated fat, calories, carbohydrates, and sodium, and are a good protein source. They also contain the micronutrients phosphorus, niacin, selenium, vitamin B12, and potassium.
Besides, Tilapia has been used as a biological control for certain aquatic plant problems. But as an important aquaculture fish, tilapia also carried their monogenean parasites with them.
Steamed Tilapia Recipe:
You’ll need:
1 Tilapia
5 tablespoons steamed fish oyster sauce
1 green onion
1 ginger
1 tablespoon Sichuan pepper
2 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons white pepper
3 tablespoons cooking wine
1/2 lemon
2 dried chili
Coriander
Vegetable oil
How to make Steamed Tilapia
1. Tilapia removes internal organs and some fins, retains the tail of the fish, and cleans it in the pool.
2. Salt is sprinkled on both sides of the fish’s back and in the fish. And fully spread the salt evenly.
3. Apply white pepper to the tilapia back evenly. Cut a few cuts on the back of the fish and sprinkle with cooking wine.
4. Sprinkle lemon juice on the back of the fish, put the green onion, ginger and Sichuan pepper into the fish belly and set aside for 10 minutes.
5. Place 2 to 3 sections of green onion on the bottom of the plate, places the fish on top. Then, place it in a steamer for about 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and set aside for 2 minutes. Then spread the onion ginger, dried chili and coriander evenly over the fish back. Transfer it from the steamer.
6. Heat a wok with oil until it smokes, and evenly poured the hot oil onto the fish. Then, the steamed fish oil is poured along the edge of the plate. Serve.
