Why write this recipe? It feels like a simple matter of boiling rice and water. Rice Porridge is a very common staple food. When you have a bad appetite or want to eat something lighter, you will think of porridge.
Rice porridge is the most basic and simple of all kinds of porridge. Don’t underestimate a bowl of white porridge, it looks ordinary but has its secrets.
What is rice porridge
A good bowl of porridge should be soft, soft and smooth. There needs to be that melt-in-the-mouth feel.
Many people do not know how thick the porridge should be, but there is actually a certain proportion.
If you want to drink whole porridge (in fact, it is similar to cooking soft and rotten rice), the ratio of rice to water (volume ratio) is 1:8, if you want to drink thick porridge, it is 1:10, and if you want to drink thin porridge, it is 1:13. Generally, I like something between thick porridge and thin porridge, so I use a ratio like 1:11.
In addition to the ratio problem mentioned above, rice also has some skills before cooking and when it is boiled in water. As long as you master it, you can burn smooth white porridge.
rice porridge Recipe
Rice porridge for 2 people
Ingredients:
Rice | 60g |
Water | 1000g |
Tips & Variations
1. After washing the rice, soak it for half an hour, then drain the water and add oil and mix well for later use.
2. After the water is boiled, put it in the pot, and keep stirring after the pot is put in, so that the rice grains can fully absorb the water.
3. After turning to low heat, stop stirring to let the rice grains fully release the stickiness.
4. When cooking porridge, you must add enough water at one time, and do not add water in the middle. If you really feel that the porridge is too thick and you need to add water, you should also add boiling water.
How to make rice porridge
1. First, wash the rice. Don’t rub the rice vigorously when washing the rice, which will cause the loss of nutrients. After washing, put an appropriate amount of water to soak for half an hour, so that the rice grains can fully absorb the water.
2. Drain the soaked rice, then add a teaspoon of oil and mix well (it can be any oil, olive oil and peanut oil are fine). Putting oil can make the rice grains fully absorb the surrounding hot water when they are placed in the pot, making it easier to boil the rice grains and make the porridge more smooth.
3. Boil water in a pot, when it boils, add rice grains mixed with oil.
4. Continue to maintain medium-high heat, stirring constantly with a spoon in the same direction. At the beginning of the stirring, the rice grains were still swirling in the middle part.
5. Stir until the surrounding water has turned into the color of rice milk, and when the rice grains are basically spinning in the whole pot (about 5-8 minutes), it is almost done. At this time, observe the state of the rice grains, which are a circle larger than when they are placed in the pot.
6. Then turn down the heat and cover. After about 45 minutes, it was very soft and rotten. Just cover the lid, otherwise the porridge will easily come out.
