Chinese sticky rice is a traditional Chinese dish that has been popular in China for thousands of years.
The recipes are almost the same everywhere, basically steamed glutinous rice, mixed with sugar, oil, sweet-scented osmanthus, poured into a container containing red dates, barley, lotus seeds, longan and other nuts. It tastes sweet and it is also a great dish for festivals and hospitality.
Chinese sticky rice recipe
You’ll need:
50g quinoa
100g millet
150g glutinous rice
30g sugar
200g red bean paste
3 salt egg yolks
30g butter
Candied dates
raisins
Cooked walnuts
Lycium barbarum
Cooked almonds
Cooked pine nuts
How to make Chinese sticky rice
1. Soak the millet, quinoa and glutinous rice for 2-3 hours in a bowl. Drain them, and mix with butter and sugar well. Add enough water to just cover the rice.
2. Add water to the pressure cooker and put the steam rack in it. Then, put the bowl with rice on the steam rack. Cover the lid and shift the vent to 2nd gear. Cook it under high heat until steaming, turn fire to a minimum. Continue steaming for 40 minutes. Soak raisins and Lycium barbarum in water.
3. Brush 1 layer of butter in a bowl, place Candied dates, raisins, cooked walnuts, Lycium barbarum, cooked almonds and cooked pine nuts according to your favorite pattern. Compact some steamed rice in a bowl and press a pit in the center. Put the red bean paste and salt egg yolks on the pit. And put a circle of raisins on the edge.
4. Compact some steamed rice in the bowl and press a pit again, put some nut in the pit. Then put the bowl on the pressure-cooker and repeat step 2. Take out the steamed rice and buckle it up on the plate.
